Merry Christmas, Peace on Earth

Merry Christmas, Peace on Earth

Merry Christmas.  Peace on earth, good will to men.  I am posting the Facebook status of a man I consider a good friend.  A man who deserves to say the things he is saying.  I leave these words of excellent foreign policy, that closely resemble those of our founders, for you to ponder on this day.  Because what we really want is “Peace on Earth.”
peace-on-earth1

Christmas Eve 2015… Almost fifty years ago I was part of a small group that went out to conduct a pre-emptive strike because we just knew that “Nagoolian” (Bush for North Vietnamese Army) was going to violate the Christmas Ceasefire and we were up to destroying their will and ability to do that. Half way through the ensuing firefight I found myself lying on my back in a 81 or 82 millimeter mortar crater watching their green and our red tracer rounds crossing maybe 18″ above me. Honest!, I was humming “Deck the Halls…” and YES they had violated the ceasefire when we attacked them!

I truly pray that America will tire of finding excuses to wage, participate in, or supply war in 2016. The lines are getting blurrier every day that separates the “good guys” and the “bad guys” but there is no question about which nation contributes the most equipment and lethality to war in the world; it ain’t okay with me that it’s the US of A! We have the ability to end all life if we decided to do that, so does China and Russia. A few other nations have the ability to make a run at ending it all and, best case, make surviving a pretty grim outcome. I think it’s ridiculous to believe that any nation with Armageddon capabilities would attack the US. Hell, “Doomsday Devices” were perfected in the 60 ‘ s and I’m sure have been upgraded continually; if an adventuresome enemy hit any of 50 cities in America once, or any more than one American city…poof! “Hello WW III!” ISIS? I really believe the want a Moslem Caliphate over there and mess with us because we won’t let the Middle East self-determine; the same thing that all Empires have done on their way to the crapper. Pull out, give the bases we built to the nations where we built them in lieu of ANY more “foreign aid” or reparations payments, take our weapons back with us, and make it clear that America is done fighting on foreign soil. Make sure they remember that we are the only nation who has ever used Nukes on an enemy so that IS part of our war strategies so they’ll want to consider attacking us VERY CAREFULLY. The rest of the world can do what they want to do and China and Russia can referee from now on just leave us out of war and conquest. We’re gonna focus on meds and mental health; gonna cure cancer, alzheimer’s, American hunger, crime, addictions, and ignorance. We’ll still be part of the world community, if you want to buy any of our new industry we”ll be glad to sell it (for Shiny Rocks, we no longer value gold it’s become too much of a problem), if you’d rather spend on health instead of hell. But don’t bring war to US or we’ll extinct you. If Americans feel the need to mess around in foreign or warring countries, bodyguarding or building irrigation and wells, and they get killed that was their choice, kill Americans here, we’ll extinct you! Light off any nukes upwind of us, maybe we’ll extinct you…go ahead roll the dice.

Let’s quit buying and selling the old bullshit that America needs to fight wars either for ourselves or our allies; we fought the wars we needed to fight and fought a couple that we should have learned from that we’re more suited to being lovers than tyrants. Ultimately survival is a do-it-yourself project, bullies go looking for trouble and always find it. I love America, I went to war under the American flag, and believe me, I learned! Please go to YouTube and listen to Train, “Calling All Angels”

Merry Christmas, may 2016 be better for all the world than 2015 was, may we learn to live from our hearts instead of our fear, my we rely more on our backs than on our banks, and may God bless America with the remembrance of why he franchised us originally.

San Bernardino and The Fourth Turning

I may have changed my mind on the catalyst of “The Fourth Turning.”  For years I have been teaching this cycle in history.  It has fascinated me more than any other cycle I have studied.  I am a believer in patterns.

Recently Glenn Beck talked about this cycle in history again on his radio show.  I have heard it mentioned in blogs, and I had the opportunity to teach this cycle in a very condensed version at the Limitless Tribe Night that was broadcast.  (My portion begins at 1:32:00) I have been meaning to write this blog post for almost six months.  It’s time to share my thoughts especially since the attacks in Paris are fresh on our minds, and after today’s shootings in San Bernardino.

The book “The Fourth Turning” by Strauss & Howe is an amazing look at this 80-120 year cycle.  You can read more about the specific of this cycle, HERE!

Originally, when the book was written in 1997, it was looking forward to the day the Fourth Turning would begin.  It gave a number of possible scenarios for possibilities of a catalyst from the Third Turning to the Fourth Turning.

“A Fourth Turning does not require economic depression or civil war, but it does require public sacrifice and political upheaval.”

Here is a quick look at times from end of  Unraveling (3rd Turning) to Crisis (4th Turning):

  • Wars of the Roses (1459-1487, Late Medieval Saeculum
  • Armada Crisis (1569-1594), Reformation Saeculum
  • Glorious Revolution (1675-1704), New World Saeculum
  • American Revolution (1773 – 1794), Revolutionary Saeculum
  • Civil War (1860-1865), Civil War Saeculum
  • Great Depression and World War II (1929-1946), Great Power Saeculum
  • Millennial Crisis, (2005?-2029?), Millennial Saeculum

We are in the crisis.  There is no doubt about it, and it will be interesting to see what the next few years bring.  I have taught that the catalyst was likely 9-11-01.  And that still may prove to be the case.  I have waited for 2015 to roll around, because if history is an indicator of the future, the climax of the Fourth Turning will hit this year.  It’s December.  These cycles are never exact, and cannot be predicted with exact dates, but we are starting to see things really begin to heat up around the world.

If we see a big climax occur, it will likely affect most of the population in America and much worldwide.  This is the first time in history that this cycle has played out where so many of the nations great countries are on the cycle at the same time with each other.  That makes this cycle just a bit different.  It isn’t happening any faster, but it is happening more globally. For a closer look just at the Fourth Turning, CLICK HERE!

If we do not see a big climax occur, then 9-11-01 was not the catalyst.  Many people, including one of the authors of The Fourth Turning believe the catalyst was likely the stock market and housing crash of 2008.  This could also be right, and if that is the case, we should all be thankful because it likely means we have a little more time to prepare for the climax.

The climax usually comes about halfway through the Fourth Turning.  Each turning lasts about 20-30 years.  So this would be between NOW and next year if the cycle lasts 30 years and it began in 2001.  Or it could be in about 2023 if the cycle lasts about 30 years and the catalyst was in 2008.  Or it could just be tomorrow.  This is a big wait and see game.  No one really knows where or when the big climax of the turning will hit.  Remember it has been a plague, a famine, a war, or depression historically.

So what do we do with this information?  I really believe there is only one answer.  PREPARE!  And I’m not talking about survival skills, although that will help.  I’m not talking about food storage, although that will be extremely helpful.  I’m not talking about disconnecting from the internet, although we could all do that more often and see better results in our lives.  What I’m talking about is preparing your heart.  Prepare your spirit, prepare your soul.

If we are ever to truly make a difference in this world, it will be by listening to the spirit that is within us, and getting the answers we need for ourselves, our lives, and our families.  It is learning to love our neighbors, even though they are really, really annoying.  It is learning to put up with other people’s garbage, and mistakes, and shortcomings.  It is learning to love and serve when there is nothing that can come from doing it.  You are just doing it.  No reward, no payback, not even acknowledgement.  That is what this life is really about.  Preparing for the future, is preparing your heart to create a world that is better than the one we have now.

What comes after the crisis … a founding.  And that usually creates something through that saeculum.  About 100 years.  What are you going to create?  What kind of founding do you want?  Are you educating yourself and your children in a way to understand how powerful your minds are?  Do you understand what real liberty and freedom looks like?  Do you understand that real freedom comes between the ears?  Can you visualize a future that is bright, and glorious?  Who is leading your thoughts?  Is it you, the media, inspiration, or darkness?  DECIDE now what direction you want for your life.

I am happy to say that in the last 4 months I have stopped focusing on what is wrong with the world and life, and I am focusing on what is good and beautiful.  I see more beauty, I see more good, and I see people as people, instead of annoyances.

You may wonder how I did that.  A few things actually.  I will list them here:

  1. I started the year on a phone call. I did it every single weekday.  We read a few books together, and discussed them.  It was a good group of people.  My mind was expanding again.
  1. I began implementing the idea of connecting to source. (My source is God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.  Probably a few guardian angels, too.)
  1. I began following the promptings that I knew came from God.
  1. I attended a class in September that sent me on a fast course. (CLICK HERE FOR THIS CLASS.  Also, shoot me an email and I will get you a discount of $69 for two people to attend.)
  1. I began a mentoring program.
  1. I have continued to follow inspiration to guide me to other mentors, and to other books that I should read.

The answers are different for every single person.  But the answers are out there.  This is THE GREATEST TIME TO BE ALIVE!  This is the time when we can change lives for the better.  This is the one chance in our lifetime to set things for the next 100 years.  And I believe that what we do today, will create things for ourselves and our posterity that will hang in the balance of eternity.

This song plays over and over in my head, because the words are so true.  We can create amazing things together.

Find your purpose.  Find your passion.  Fulfill your life.

War on Drugs, War on Poverty, War on …. Whatever

War on Drugs, War on Poverty, War on …. Whatever

Society often creates wars on things they don’t want, like the “War on Drugs,” the “War on Poverty,” the “Fight Against Illiteracy,” the “War on Teenage Pregnancy,” etc.  Politics are rank with fighting, infighting, figure pointing, and nonsense.

How can any organization or individual proclaiming the desire for change create change, when they are really only focusing on what they don’t want.

While studying Wallace Wattles, The Science of Abundance,  written long before “The Secret” came about, there is a very good explanation about how people create more of what they don’t want when they give it their attention.

Things are not brought into being by thinking about their opposites.  Health is never to be attained by studying disease and thinking about disease; righteousness in not to be promoted by studying sin and thinking about sin; and no one ever got rich by studying poverty and thinking about poverty.

I recently received an email from a fellow 9-12er in another state.  Her goal was to create a rally against Radical Islam.  I thought about what I had been learning.  Her next email was that she didn’t receive many responses.  I certainly hadn’t responded to her idea.  But then I wrote to her.  I explained that if she wanted to create a rally, maybe she could focus on what she actually wants.  Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc standing for Peace.  Uniting instead of dividing.

I recognize that sometimes we have to call things by what they are, but often still focus the wrong direction to eliminate it.  When people focus on the issue instead of the principle, they do not solve problems.  When we looked at the Tytler Cycle earlier in this blog, we recognize that when people focus on the issues it keeps society on the wrong side of the cycle.  When we focus on the principles, we create faith, liberty, and abundance.

The World’s Terminology                      Abundance Terminology

Fight Against Illiteracy                                  Advancement of Wide-Spread Education

Educating Children to Compete                  Inspiring Children to Create

War on Drugs                                                  Creating an Emotionally Healthy Society

War on Teenage Pregnancy                         Empowerment of Virtuous Youth

War on Poverty                                               Teaching Abundance

War on Terror                                                 Spreading Principles of Liberty

Can the world really drive out what they don’t want by focusing on the problem?

In another post, we looked at the schools in my area teaching a class on “White Privilege.”  Read more about that here.  But to sum it up, we cannot teach children they are racist to eliminate racism.  We must teach children how to recognize friendship and similarities. To become inclusive through finding common ground.  By recognizing difference and finding beauty in them.

Recently Mia Love, of Utah, joined the Republican Black Caucus.  mia love black caucusI’m not sure what the point of that organization is except to say you are not allowed unless your skin color is black.  How dividing is that?  It isn’t based on anything except how you were born.  It is not on the content of your character but the color of your skin.  This is the polar opposite of what Martin Luther King Jr. stood for.  He didn’t stand “against” the white man.  He stood for ALL men to become better individuals, be judged for what they create and do, not their color of their skin.

light-beam-in-dark-roomLet’s look at what we know.  If you come into a dark room and switch on the light, the darkness is gone.  Can you bring darkness into a lit room?  Can you  extinguish light with darkness?  It only works ONE DIRECTION.  Light ALWAYS dispels the darkness.  Darkness is the absence of light.

As a proponent of liberty and abundance, my goal is to help those of us promoting liberty and abundance to focus on those things.  I have watched as many 9-12 groups, tea party groups, and political groups become negative.  They have stopped standing for principles of liberty, and they have begun fighting against this or that issue.  It will never have the result you want.

Liberty is spread by education.  Abundance is spread by the teaching of abundance principles. Wattles also stated,

The very best thing you can do for the whole world is to make the most of yourself.  You can serve God and man in no more effective way than by…the creative method and not by the competitive one.

Change will occur in America when Americans have more to protect, and are not just fed and entertained (bread and circuses).  fishIt is time to raise our fellow-man by not giving them the fish, but teaching them how to make the net (or pole), find the best fishing hole, teach them to fish, and most importantly, teach them how to believe they deserve to catch as many fish as they desire.

The Hatch Machine vs. ?

Opinion Piece

The long arm of the paid Hatch-brigade has sunk to a new low.  Since the exit of Jason Chaffetz as a possible candidate to unseat Hatch, there are many in the liberty movement desperately searching for not only a better candidate than Hatch, which isn’t hard, but one that could knock him off his 36-year throne.  http://www.dethronehatch.com/

I am one of those people exploring ALL my options.  My brother-in-law, set up an informal meeting with Neil Walter.  You might remember him from the convention race with Morgan Philpot for Congressional Seat 2.  He hasn’t said he’s running, and was only looking at options today in a breakfast meeting with a few activists that want Hatch out.

I put a note out for people to meet with Neil, and asked that they RSVP.  I was a few minutes late since I was driving from the Park City area.  When I walked in, they were just starting the discussion.  I looked up and across the table was Christy Achziger.  I like Christy, but this stunned me.  She hadn’t RSVP’d of course.   Word was she was working for Hatch.  I could not believe the nerve.  Now, she is free to work for anyone she wants, but as a paid staffer, it’s like the opposing team’s quarterback coming to your team meeting and acting like it’s no big deal to just open your playbook.  I asked her promptly if she was working for Hatch.  She replied in the affirmative.  I invited her to leave.  She didn’t, until another gentleman pulled her aside and explained why it would be uncomfortable, and we could not speak openly with her there.  The bad manners displayed by the Hatch campaign staff needs to be understood as marching orders from their boss.  Hatch will do anything to keep himself relevant, and sadly he is making some really nice people, look really bad in the process.

Hatch has also managed to get our “trusted” news source of Fox News to suddenly have a love-fest with the senator.  With Sarah Palin, Gretta van (whats-her-name), and Sean Hannity all falling into step.  I am now convinced principles don’t matter to most people, only what is in their best interest and the tug of the almighty (quickly losing value) dollar.

Within two hours of our meeting, someone from the Hatch office had called Neil and set up an appointment for him to meet with Senator Hatch.  One by one Hatch will attempt to convince his opponents to drop out of the race.

I am looking for the man or woman with the guts and drive to stand this goliath in the face and say, “Give it your best shot.”  If you have skeletons in your closet, lead with them.  He’s got them, too.  If you think he can dig up dirt on you from a soiled past and that isn’t who you are now, lead with it.  People understand.  They aren’t perfect either, but don’t let this man bully you into not running.  RUN.

We’ve done our homework Mr. Hatch, and you can be beat.  It isn’t just the liberty movement that is tired of you.  It’s many of the delegates and general populace within the Republican party right here in Utah.  It’s old school Republicans that are your age, and young fresh-faced voters, that have had the same Senator in office their entire lives.  What do you call a six-term senator?  You call him home.  Enough already.

Þ   You are a six-term senator, and that bothers me.

Þ   You started the Department of Education, and that bothers me.

Þ   You crafted legislation on Medicare Part-D (the largest entitlement the country had ever seen until Obamacare), and that bothers me.

Þ   You voted for TARP, and that bothers me.

Þ   You claim to have written the Patriot Act, and that bothers me.

Þ   You continue to give more power to the regulating bodies like the FDA and the USDA, and that bothers me.

I could go on and on.  These things bother me.  As a voter do they bother you?  Take a good look at the Hatch voting record.  I’ve provided some links for you to visit.

http://www.michaeljolley.net/hatch-vs-bennett.html

If we want to change Washington, we must first change ourselves.  For me, I’m changing myself into a concerned citizen that is paying attention and will no longer let the power-hungry stay in power.

I won’t be scared into believing your stories about Olympia Snowe.  She probably uses Hatch as her number one reason to be re-elected.  Those of you in DC use this strategy with each other against the people, and then you get to DC and shake hands and laugh at the American people who have been “had” again.  You sit in your DC bubble, with a cushy job, with cushy retirement, and cushy medical care, all on the backs of the tax-payers, while you listen to yourselves pontificate at Senate hearings that mean nothing and accomplish nothing other than feed your egos.

Our founding fathers never wanted career politicians.  We need to renew that belief.  We need people who won’t play the seniority game in Washington.  We don’t need any more games in Washington.  We need people who aren’t afraid of losing their “power,” and actually would rather not have it, but believe it belongs to the people.  We need people that will not make compromises that go against their principles for the sake of getting along, but instead hold their ground, for the people of our great nation, and restore our country to it’s founding principles.  We need individuals of integrity, wisdom and virtue.

We are waiting …..where are you?

The National Day of Prayer in Park City, Utah

Today is the National Day of Prayer.  In Park City, Utah, The Christian Center of Park City joined together this morning and took the day seriously.  I, along with a few other STAR Forum members, attended the event.  I wasn’t sure what to expect, and was very impressed.

The morning started out with a wonderful breakfast of doughnuts, muffins, sausage, bacon, quiche, juice, coffee, and more.  I saw many friendly faces from around the community, and met a few new ones.

The event began with a prayer.  We sang a few hymns of praise, and different people from the community spoke.  With each community member concluding, we were asked to specifically prayer for just a couple of minutes at our tables for those specific needs.  Lisa Kirtchenheiter, a Park City school board member, spoke of the difficulties that children are facing.  She asked that we also remember in our prayers the homeschooled children (as she gave me a quick nod), charter-school children, and private-school children.  Then the prayers began.  I was overwhelmed with the spirit of these prayers, thinking of the youth that will grow into our local leaders, our entrepreneurs, our healers, and maybe even leaders of our nation.

Then it came time for the law enforcement to say a few words.  Chief of Police in Park City, Wade Carpenter, and Summit County Sherriff, Dave Edmonds, both had a chance to speak.  They spoke of their commitment to community, and Chief Carpenter spoke of the way Sherriff Edmonds always seeks for guidance in prayer every day before his duty begins.  They spoke of the hardships of serving, how these officers see things that can disturb you for life.  Among other things, they deal with child pornography, abuse victims, drugs, and violence.  They spoke of the divorce rate among police officers, and it is around 75%.  They asked us to prayer for safety of the officers in both body and mind.

I wish I had taken my camera to the event, because Sheriff Edmonds was in his highest uniform, covered with stars on his collar, and stripes on his arms.  Today was an especially emotional day for Sheriff Edmonds.  Today four names were to be added to the memorial of fallen officers in Utah.  And every year on this day, Sheriff Edmonds thinks of Officer Ron Wood, who served in West Jordan and was killed in the line of duty, after being shot.  He was Dave’s friend, and trained with him.  I remember this man, because I lived in West Jordan at the time of his death.  What a small world it is.

We heard from other pastors and teachers here in the area.  The one that struck me, (and I apologize for not remembering his name now,) was the man who quoted from scripture and reminded us to love our enemy, and “pray for those that despitefully use you.”  He reminded us to pray for such organizations as Hamas, and al-Qaeda, and request that their hearts be softened toward us, and not wish to do violence.  Wise words.

The Christian Center left a sheet on each table that listed National Leaders, from Barrack Obama on down to Eric Holder, State Senators, our State Governor, Park City Local Leaders, the principles of the schools, and our Supreme Court Justices.  Sadly, some local leaders that had been invited were unable to attend.  The center distributed a book mark put out by Pray! magazine, that listed 30 ways to pray for people in Authority.

The thought that came to my mind, that is often attributed to Alexis De Toqueville, but is unverifiable, where he is claimed to have said,

“I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers – and it was not there . . . in her fertile fields and boundless forests and it was not there . . . in her rich mines and her vast world commerce – and it was not there . . . in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution – and it was not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.”

The spirit of the morning was beautiful.  There are many good Christians that understand that while many things are in their circle of concern, they seem out of reach of our circle of influence.  However, there is something everyone can do;  Pray.

Today, on the 2011 National Day of Prayer, pray for our nation, its public servants, and it’s people.  We must remember that we are One Nation, but only under God.

White Privilege Workshops at Park City High School

Park City High School

The NCCJ becomes the ICCJ

One of our STAR Forum members has a child in Park City High School.  She contacted me very upset about a 1½-hour presentation in her child’s class.  I decided to look into this a little further and found some background on this subject.

The NCCJ (National Center for Christians and Jews) is an organization that I have had dealings for many years, a number of years ago.  My former boss, Robert L. Rice, was a supporter of this group.  I attended many years of black-tie events honoring people such as Gordon B. Hinckley, at the price of $10,000 per table.

I had a great deal of respect for this group, as I noticed it was a way to bridge the gap between different religions, different races, and different socio-economic backgrounds.  They taught people how many things they had in common.  It was a great plan.  Then something must have changed ….

Sometime since I knew this organization and now the organization has become ICCJ or The Inclusion Center for Community and Justice.  On the outset, especially looking at the website, I would say that it stands for the same things, unless you dig a bit deeper.

Equal Justice vs. Social Justice

Rather than teaching adults and children to find their commonalities, they are promoting “social justice.”  Let us define the difference between equal justice and social justice a bit.  Equal justice is what we, as Americans, and especially our founding fathers, hoped to create in this country.  Equal justice is portrayed in our society by a blindfolded justice holding the scales.  She is blindfolded as to not see your race, your religion, or your social status as a factor in applying the law.

Social justice, on the other hand is what most Marxist and socialistic philosophies lean toward.  Their idea of justice is when a race of people, or a class of people who have oppressed (even if it was their great-great-great-grandparents that did the actual oppression) must pay to those great-great-great-grandchildren of the oppressed their due.  This shows up in re-distribution of wealth programs, the stirring up of class warfare, affirmative action, programs that grant entitlements or benefits, or some other special privilege based solely on your race or ethnic background, etc.

You may be wondering how I can claim this group is promoting social justice.  A quick look at their site will show you.:

When not at the Inclusion Center, interns carry out the mission of the organization by running social justice clubs. These clubs hold weekly/monthly meetings that discuss school specific issues, implement service learning projects, and run student driven campaigns such as Oppression Awareness Week and Teaching Tolerance’s Mix It Up Day.

These clubs can currently be found at Highland High School, West High School, East High School, and Judge Memorial in Salt Lake City.

What they taught in Park City

Three Park City High School English teachers have had a presentation from the ICCJ  called “White Privilege.”  Anna WIlliams was the first this year, followed by Steve Cuttitta and Melissa Nikolai, who combined their classes for the 1 ½ hour presentation.

Mr. Cuttitta believes this is a good opportunity before he moves into teaching about the Holocaust and the novel Night, by Elie Weisel.

The premise of the class was to teach 10th graders that they are racists because they are white and have lived privileged lives.  After looking at the literature from the class, and all of the literature easily accessible on their website www.inclusioncenter.org , I would have to agree with that conclusion.  I even have a copy of an email from the presenter that shows her intention.  It is to make these children uncomfortable.

After the mom contacted one teacher at Park City High School, Steve Cuttitta, he responded that “at no point in the presentation did she call any of the students racist.”  However, Mr Cuttitta did not stay in the classroom during the presentation, so he may not have been aware of that labeling against the students.  And just two days ago, Mr. Cuttitta continued to lead the students’ thoughts by asking his class to imagine a scientist.  Once they had imagined a scientist he told his class they probably imagined a man, and probably a white one.  Then he asked them to imagine a criminal.  Again he said they probably imagined a man or a male, and most of the students probably imagined someone who was not white.

Here is a direct quote from one of the emails I received from our member about what went on at the high school.  After being asked why all the black kids, Mexican kids and white kids grouped together in the lunch room, they hesitated to answer.

“When they answered, because all the Hispanics call them names in the hallway (white trash and the like) and always speak Spanish, they don’t feel they would want them to join them.  The presenter got in their face and called them racist.  Saying things like, “because you feel that way, that makes you a racist.  You are racists and don’t even know it, we are here to make you aware of it.”

What should have been taught

Maybe there are other reasons besides race involved.  Maybe it could simply be not wanting to be around people you believe are rude to you.   Or maybe you like to be around someone you can understand.  Alternatively, maybe it could be better explained by a great philosopher like C. S. Lewis in his book The Weight of Glory, and the chapter titled “The Inner Ring.”  Have your 10th graders read that one and discuss it.  This is an English class, right?  Now before anyone starts screaming about seperation of church and state, at no time during this thesis of the Inner Ring, does C. S. Lewis bring up God.

Mr. Lewis explains that in every walk of life there are unwritten systems, as described by Tolstoi in War and Peace.  They begin in school, they extend to colleges, and they are in the work place as well.  He goes on to say, “I must now make a distinction.  I am not going to say that existence of Inner Rings is an evil.  It is certainly unavoidable.”

Rings are created from the inside and the outside.  If someone feels excluded they themselves may be the ones creating the dimensions of the ring.  Other times the dimensions are created from the inside.  But rings develop, and they are not always bad, they just are.  We gravitate toward those individuals we feel the most comfortable.  There is no guilt-trip here.

C.S. Lewis states in his book,

“The quest of the Inner Ring will break your hearts unless you break it.  But if you break it, a surprising result will follow.  If in your working hours you make the work your end, you will presently find yourself all unawares inside the only circle in your profession that really matters.  You will be one of the sound craftsmen, and other sound craftsmen will know it.  This group of craftsmen will by no means coincide with the Inner Ring or the Important People or the People in the Know.  It will not shape that professional policy or work up that professional influence which fights for the profession as a whole against the public, nor will it lead to those periodic scandals and crisis which the Inner Ring produces.  But it will do those things which that profession exists to do and …if in your spare time you consort simply with the people you like, you will again find that you have come unawares to a real inside, that you are indeed snug and safe at the center of something, which seen from without, would look exactly like an Inner Ring.”

But this ring is accidental, and it’s exclusiveness is a by-product.  This according to Aristotle is placed among the virtues, because this is friendship.  What a great lesson.  These children could be taught to enlarge their circle of friends, instead of giving them a guilt-trip about their view-point, which has not even fully developed.

I was saddened to see that Park City High School and the ICCJ have gone about this great idea to help bridge gaps in completely the wrong way.  I am willing to give the teachers a bit of a pass, because maybe they are really unaware of what they are promoting, which is social justice.  However, I think it’s time that all involved take a long look at what kind of indoctrination and guilt is being pushed.  And this is happening to our children while they are under the care of our educators.  While it is important to teach values and principles in school, the way they are taught is just as important.  This is not the way to do it.  This is a group with a political end-game more in line with Marxism and Socialism than American individualism and equal justice.  The principal of the school should be screening programs such as these, and have opt-out letters available for parents to sign.  We are watching.

We do not need to make the white children see their skin color as a curse and told they are racists, nor the blacks or Hispanics to feel they are being judged because of their skin color, when that might not really even exist.  I think Martin Luther King Jr. would be appalled.  Each of us should be judged on the content of our character not the color of our skin.  And that includes all kids.

Return to Honor and Save The American Republic

One of many in the Hero Generation

This Veteran’s Day we honor those who have served our country.  I am asking everyone to serve our country.  You don’t have to be in the military to sacrifice for our nation.  The best thing you can do is return to living an honorable life.  Pay for what you use.  Work for what you need.  Stop taking from government programs, and stop asking for new ones to be put in place.  Live your life in a way that helps you see beyond your personal desires and expect more from yourself in terms of charity.  Give to those in need.  The more we give, the less the government will be needed.   In the words of Winston Churchill, “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”  If we want to maintain our republic in this country, we must be responsible, charitable, and honorable.

As a follow-up to the last post, it is important to understand how hyper-inflation could affect our country.  We must recognize that tough times are ahead.  We can drag this on, or have some pain for a short time by returning to proper principles.  Here is the link to the article The National Inflation Association (click here for the pdf) put out on food prices if we begin to experience hyper-inflation.  This article also has some excellent information on how the DOW Jones compares with Gold prices.

The best way to avoid some of the pain is to store for the days ahead and give where we can.   Create ways to save, or better yet, produce.  My neighbors recently got bee hives.  They are doing their part in becoming more self-reliant.  One hive can produce up to 50 lbs of honey per year.  Another neighbor just installed solar tubing to heat the water for the radiant system in his home.  My husband’s company CRS Mechanical did the installation.  Not only are you using renewable energy, but you are self-reliant and creating liberty for yourself and your family.  Geo-thermal heating and cooling is another way to use the energy from the ground to help create less dependence on the grid.  Cleve has been excited about the possibility of creating real liberty through alternative energy sources.

We have asked much of those in the armed forces, but it is time to ask more from ourselves.  I have many nephews currently serving in the military, and the one pictured above, Jonathon, was just shipped to Iraq.  If we can become a people who are educated, prepared, and demand that our country be put back on the right track in all aspects, we will be able to bring these men and women home to their families.

I believe in the words of Thomas Jefferson when he said, “Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations – entangling alliances with none.”

There is one person that seems to have the most liberty-minded thinking in Washington.  Please listen to the words of Congressman Ron Paul:

$600 Billion Monetized, Inflation Pending, Be Prepared

With the latest monetization of our debt to the tune of $600 Billion on November 3, I thought I would post an article on preparedness.  We are powerless to stop the snowball that is coming toward our monetary system.  Nevertheless, there are things you can do so you will not have to fear or worry.  We are likely to see serious inflation hit soon, and even if we do not, it never hurts to prepare.

The two most important things in uncertain times are food and medicine.  My family is constantly working on keeping a good supply of both.  I have put together a simple Excel spreadsheet that can be downloaded from this site on the right hand side in the area called “FREE STAR FILES” that will help you with your food storage.  Or you can simply click here.  All you need to do is plug in the number of people in your family and the number of months you would like to have food on hand.  All of the items can be stored for a good number of months and up to 20 years, depending on how you have it stored.  This does not include fruits and vegetables, but can add those through either gardening or other canned items to augment this list.  Buy what you know you will eat, and store it in a manner that will last.

My husband and I get buckets from Industrial Container in Salt Lake City, and then we use either dry ice or other methods to take the oxygen out of the buckets, and seal them up.   The other important thing in times of crisis is medicine.  You may be thinking about simple medications like Tylenol and ibuprofen.  Those are good, but they aren’t going to help you if there are infections and viruses.  There are a myriad of natural methods that can help a number of aliments.  I’ve come to like herbs and essential oils the most.  I recently began acquiring some of these things in my home, and my family is using them first, before we go to the doctor.  In many cases, we end up not needed to go at all.   We’ve been able to handle most things without prescription drugs.  The type of oils and herbs do make a difference.

My favorite herbs are Dr. Christopher’s, and my favorite oils are dōTerra.  Studying herbs with my children has been a fun experience, and learning about the oils has been amazing.

We cured a baby chicken with oregano oil, that I am sure would have died otherwise.  Everything we read said a vet giving antibiotics could only cure this disease, once identified.  Since the oregano oil carries anti-biotic properties we used it on the infected area, and one week later, our chicken was able to go back into the hen-house with the rest.  We use it in our home regularly now, and continually add to our knowledge through study and experiment.  It’s amazing how simple it can be to cure things at home with the things put right here on the earth.

Have a 72 hour kit for each member of your family.  Be sure your little ones can carry their own.  And if you have a baby, have diapers and formula in a kit just for them.

It will be much easier to buy these things now before inflation kicks in or hard times come because of employment issues.   When you have helped yourself, then you will be able to help your family, friends, and neighbors in difficult times.  This is a Fourth Turning, and things can change very quickly for the good and the bad during these times.  As the Boy Scouts always say, BE PREPARED!

Guilty Until Proven Innocent

Banking regulations put forth by the Patriot Act, and other “safety acts” that follow have long been a huge frustration of mine.  But this week, it all came home for me.  I have been concerned that all of my money is in “one place.”  Since that time, I have been taking money in cash.  I have not gone over the $10,000 threshold that flags the IRS, but I still caused a RED FLAG to fly.

I received a letter from my bank where I have been banking for over 17 years, telling me that if I did not comply with their questioning I would have my account closed.

It’s the Minority Report.  Guilty until proven innocent?  That’s what the man on the phone with the bank told me.  I was guilty until I explained myself.  Of course, the fact that I am a U.S. Citizen and have committed NO CRIME does not matter.  They just do not like how it “looks” and so they want to know what I am doing with my money.  This seems like the law is in direct violation of my Fourth Amendment.  Granted nothing was searched or seized, but I was questioned, and it is really no ones business.  I realize I still have the freedom to leave their bank, and even have the freedom to use no bank at all, but there are conveniences to being tied to the grid, lets face it.

However, what did they think I was doing?  Starting a militia, peddling drugs, or selling something illegal like… raw milk?  Some suspicious activity I’m sure.  Well I’m not., and just because I’m a 9.12er, and have gone to Tea Party rallies, own a pocket Constitution, and have Americana home décor doesn’t make me a domestic terrorist.

This caused me to realize the thing that is missing from our society the most is, plain old living.  No one wants to allow us to just live, make mistakes, and grow.

I thought about Franklin’s famous quote, Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

After 9.11, we gave up many liberties with the Patriot Act, and similar acts that followed.

So, here we are, living in a world where we are being protected by every expert known to man.  We have financial experts at the Federal Reserve.  We have Medical Experts that know that government health care is the only safe way to insure our country. We have Department of Education experts in Washington, D.C. that know what the people of Utah (and everywhere else) should be teaching, we have Legislators, and Congressmen who think they have risen above the masses, and are now qualified to legislate the redistribution of wealth because Americans won’t do it themselves.

ENOUGH!  We do not need any more experts.  This country was established so that men could govern themselves.  Yes, at times we fail to be responsible in our duties, but if we have natural consequence (or Natural Law) occur, we will pick ourselves up, we will pick our neighbors up, and we will be able to rise to the occasion. This is the first principle of liberty. “The only reliable basis for sound government and just human relations is natural law.”

Experts need to remove themselves from our lives, and let the people get back to living, growing, and becoming the men and women that our God intended us to be … loving, giving stewards of this great land.

Moreover, we should still be innocent until proven guilty.

2010 Summit County Fair Republicans Responsible for Stimulus

Jamisyn with her Star Class hogs

The Summit County Fair has been going on all week.  The kids raise their hogs, steers, and lambs to show and sell at the fair.  The younger kids usually join in with chickens, bunnies, and art.  Summit County has long been known for its high prices for the auction.  This year seemed a bit lean due to the economy, but it was still a great success.

I did notice one thing this year.  It is an election year, and you often see candidates step in and purchase.  They are helping the kids, helping the community, and they get name recognition by the people who are keeping the rural part of Summit County alive and well.

Right out of the shoot,

Rob Hunt for County Assessor

Rob Hunt, running for County Assessor, and Richard Motto, running for County Clerk, purchased a hog.  The auctioneer mentioned they would take that kind of “stimulus.”  This was their first time purchasing at the fair, and they were looking forward to getting great meat and donating to a good cause.

Then Sherriff Dave Edmunds joined in.  He also purchased a hog.  After the hogs were sold, the steer went to sale, then the lambs.  Henry Glasheen, running for County Treasurer purchased a lamb.

Here is the interesting thing … they are all Republicans.  This is typical of a Republican.  See a need, and fill it, without government interference.  The Summit County Jr. Livestock Sale, through the 4-H program, is a way to encourage our youth to achieve their goals, set aside money for college, and learn about the circle of life.  Amazingly, there seems to be no need for government subsidy.  Hard work actually pays off for these youth.  In addition, their parents are actively engaged in helping them.  That is the American way.  These kinds of programs are what every community needs.  If not with animals, then with art, crafts, gardening, etc.  A little competition is great for these kids, and gives them a sense of pride.  It teaches them that instant gratification is less rewarding than reaping what you sow.  Our country has become obsessed with having it now, and that is not real.  It takes time to create a harvest; it takes time to raise an animal.

Some children become very attached to their animals and both of my girls shed quite a few tears as their animals were taken away to the slaughterhouse.  They have loved these animals all summer, fed, watered and walked them.  Nevertheless, they understand that while their bodies are still here for us to appreciate and help sustain us, their spirits have moved on, and they have filled the measure of their creation.  Besides, bacon is yummy!

Also, Lyndon & Stacy Jones, STAR Forum members, were responsible for the purchase of many animals, including a steer.  This is a wonderful way for everyone to get involved in their community, and show their support for those in the upcoming generation.

If only our government understood these principles.  We, the people, do, and as we continue to teach our children these principles, they will grow up and become our government.  We have raised children in a 3rd turning, and it is now time to raise adults.

Now, I could have missed the Democrat candidates purchasing animals, but I did not hear any names that I recognized as candidates.
