Thomas Jefferson Education on Glenn Beck

By Jacqueline Smith

As many of you know, I have been homeschooling my children, and educating myself using The Thomas Jefferson Education, sometimes known as TJed.   The class being referred to in this clip is being taught here in Utah (Wanship) by the founders of  The Thomas Jefferson Education system.  This will be a wonderful free event.  Please make plans to attend.  It is on Friday afternoon April 30, 2010.  Do your best to take some time off work and attend this special event, you won’t regret it.  You must RSVP for this event, at our meet up site by clicking here.

We are in a leadership crisis in our country, and the only way to change direction is to become liber.  Liber is the latin word for tree bark.  You see, tree bark was used to write on.  It is also the root word of library, and liberty.  In order to be a free people, we must be educated, and we must educate ourselves in the classics.

It will take leadership to move not just our political arena forward in America, but our enrapreneurs, our educational arena, our media, our communities.  To understand the leadership model of education, I highly recommend attending our TJed for families event.  Dads …. you need to come, too.  A family that learns together has much more impact on the world.

Washington DC March on 9.12 / A Utahn’s Account

by Jacqueline Smith

The 9.12 march on Washington was a wonderful, peaceful event.  I had many emotions while I was there.

We drove into Maryland on Friday night before the March.  There were activities planned as early as Thursday, but our family opted to spend the time seeing other places, like the Freedom Trail in Boston, that I wrote about earlier.   We stayed at a KOA on Friday night and ran into a few people in the KOA store, all who were planning on attending the march.  There were three ladies from Florida, who drove up.  There was an elderly gentlemen, 83 years old, who was a Veteran of our military, and his wife, who said, “This is the last thing I can do for my grandchildren, so I’m going to do it.”

We got up early on Saturday and went to the train station.  ALL of the people that I could see had signs in their hands.  The train filled with people going to the march.  As we exited the train, the underbelly of DC filled with shouts of “U S A, U S A.”  People began cheering.  The excitement was palpable.  My children joined in.  People were giving away American flags and Constitutions.  People in wheelchairs participated.  Some walked with canes.  Children in tow with parents.  I met people from Indiana, Connecticut, Maryland, Florida, Alabama, Washington, Tennessee, Texas, New York, just to name a few.  In addition, of course, we were there from Utah.

I experienced all kinds of individuals, with a wide range of ages.  Many elderly people participated.  This was no ordinary march.  We have been called angry, but I would use the word empowered.  We gained strength from each other.  We saw all the people around us who had united under 9 Principles and 12 Values.

100_0267

The issues ranged the gamut from ending corruption, to eliminating czars, to ending the Federal Reserve, to The Statue of Liberty in tears.  However, the main theme seemed to be restoring the Constitution to its rightful place inside our government.  Also taking a good long look at the unconstitutional things that are currently running rampant within the government bureaucracy.  Yes, there were a few who carried the “birth certificate” signs, but most are just frustrated with Congress even more than they are frustrated with the President.

I asked a few people if they affiliated themselves with a specific party.  I received answers of Republican, Independent, and Democrat.  While most seemed to come from the Republican party, they were frustrated within their own party as well.  This was by no means any type of scientific poll, just a chance meeting with the marchers as we walked.  One feeling I received was that these people are becoming informed.  They will not sit idly by while the so-called elite run their government any more.  They don’t trust them to do what’s in their best interest.  Party-lines mean very little to this group of people.  They are going to listen to the candidates, look at their record, look at their lives, and then pull the lever.  If a candidate arises that holds dear the Constitution, small government, tax-cuts, end of corruption, and will live with the same laws they enact they will be popular among this crowd, no matter the party on their sign.  These people are going to understand the issues and weigh in through the internet, twitter, facebook and other social media.  They are once again looking for statesmen.  Mr. Smith is wanted in Washington.

The mainstream media can ignore us, and it won’t matter.  The media can pretend we don’t exit, and it won’t matter.  For every single person at the march, there were likely hundreds of people back home that wanted to be there, or knew someone who went.  They know us.  They know we are real, and they trust us.  So, if the media downplays the march, they are biting the hands that feed them, because the people who weren’t totally sold on the media bias, now have proof in their friends and neighbors that they were there and were ignored.  Their friends, who are not racists, tell them how peaceful it was, and the media said they were an angry, racist mob.  Their friends tell them about the wonderful democrats and independents they met, and the media says it was a GOP stunt.  Their friends tell them about the people from all races who attended and are standing for the Constitution and running for office, and the media says it was a white-male crowd.  The media can ignore us, and they will soon find they are the ones ignored.  Their only hope will be to ask for a government bailout that Congress had better think twice about giving.  As a friend of mine tweeted, after lamenting at the lack of coverage, her son told her, “Don’t worry, mom, ABC didn’t report on the Revolution either.”

100_0266

We gathered in the Federal Triangle on Pennsylvania Avenue at about 9:00.  We walked around for an hour.  There were people with speakers and microphones giving pep-talks.  There was only one camera that I saw, and I’m not sure if it was even anyone from a media station.  As people continued to get off the trains, the area became so overcrowded you could barely move.  One girl saw us with our little children and tears streamed down her face.  She reached down and said to my daughter, “I’m so glad you are here.  Don’t ever forget this.”

100_0257

We walked quite a distance both directions and never found the ends of the crowd.  At 10:00 the march began.  One person with a bullhorn strapped to him, was asking the crowd, “Why are you all so happy?  You are supposed to be an angry mob, remember?”  And it was true.  Everyone was happy.  People were signing “God Bless America,” chanting “U S A, U S A, U S A.”

100_0255

The police at the Capitol building when we got there about 20 minutes after we began, were not allowing anyone else on the lawn of the Capitol even though there was plenty of green to be seen.  We sat around the Capital Reflecting Pool, while the street continued to flow for another hour and a half to the capital.  There were individuals, who chanted things over the loud speaker, and many joined in, but the conservative group was difficult to lead.  We just aren’t the cheerleading type.  We don’t chant, because it feels strange.  Crowd mentality is not really our thing.  We are individuals that believe in individual liberty, so behaving in a crowd is not the norm for this group.

ATT00093

100_0334

We expected more vendors available on the streets to help feed the crowds, but when that did not happen the crowd began to separate around 12:30 p.m. just to find food.  The rally took place at 1:00; many had already dispersed into other parts of DC.  This was unfortunate because the crowds were much heavier before the media (only Fox) began their coverage.

In the end, we may have gone home ignored, but the empowerment has taken root, and it will continue to grow.  We know who we are.  We will continue to educate ourselves, and we will not back down from our conservative stand.  At the 9.12 march Senator Jim DeMint said that the Republicans had lost their way.  Maybe now they have found it again.  The GOP has the right platform, but as said by Rand Paul the GOP is an empty shell.  It all depends on the people we fill it with.  If the GOP embraces this movement properly, and returns to their roots, finding statesmen instead of politicians to represent their people rather than their party, they, and all Americans will be the better for it.

The Boston Freedom Trail

By Jacqueline Smith

The beauty of the Northeast is breathtaking.  The lush green forests that hide the buildings, homes, and even the freeways are amazing.  Only when you are right in a city do you feel the city at all.  Part of our adventure for the march on Washington, DC, was to come to historic Boston, Massachusetts.

 100_0152

A good friend of mine, Andrew Mismash, and member of  The S.T.A.R. Forum, served an LDS mission in Boston and suggested the Freedom Trail.  Since we are in an RV, Parking was a bit of an adventure, and we ended up parking by the wharf.  Our freedom trail began in the middle.  While we didn’t make it down the entire trail, we saw many wonderful and important sites in Boston.  There is so much history.  I wondered at the liberal views that seem to emanate from this state, when there is so much Constitutional history right at your fingertips.  There are many Universities in this state, and according to David Nobel’s Understanding the Times, the liberal professors apparently are having quite an influence.  Nevertheless, I digress.

With five children in tow, the 7-hour walk (with a wonderful stop for seafood) was quite exhausting.  What a day.  My feet are aching, and my heart is full.  I am so grateful to the men and women of courage who took a stand in Boston, for this is truly where it all started.  According to the Fourth Turning, by Strauss & Howe, a catalyst must set off the crisis at the end of the 3rd turning..  The Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party were the catalyst of that period.  Then the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Revolutionary War began.

9/11 marks the day in our time when it is believed we had our catalyst.  About 7 – 10 year following a catalyst, an alignment takes place.  The alignment in their day, was the signing of the Declaration of Independence.  Is the march on DC the alignment of our time?  Only time will tell.

We went to Paul Revere’s home. 100_0204

It is the oldest building in Boston at over 300 years, because it was already 90 years old when he bought it.  My daughter, Silvére, mentioned that the bed in his upstairs room looked the room of Felicity from her American Girls Series.  This is where she first learned of the Boston Tea Party.

This brings us to the point of this trip.  The Tea Party Movement and the 9.12 Projects  When we mentioned back in April that we were having a Tea Party, she asked me if was like the Boston Tea Party.  I was grateful she had connected history to today so well.  While the original Tea Party movement in this country was about the upcoming taxes we know will be levied to pay for the outrageous spending and unreasonable programs being set forth by the current administration, and past bailouts and spending of the Bush administration, it has morphed into a rally for liberty.  Constitutional principles are at the forefront.  We want to tell our government “Don’t Tread On Me.”

This flag here, is still hanging in the Old North Church in Boston.  Out in front of the church in the courtyard, is the statue of Paul Revere making his famous ride.

100_0215

What a beautiful place is Boston, and so full of the memories of our patriot founders and those who courageously helped them.

The founders wanted to put an end to aristocracy.  They wanted no more Lords and Ladies, Kings and Queens, simply, no more titles.  The future day of 300,000 million people without title is here…or is it?  The titles have changed, but an aristocracy has arisen in these United States.  Now we call them Senator, Congressman, Representative, Czar (oh, I mean Special Advisor to the President), CEO, CFO, Professor, and PhD (and I do not mean the medical kind.)

The business suits, and tweed jackets are gods no more in the minds of the people.  We are ready to end this new aristocracy.  I am not against capitalism by any stretch, but I am against corruption whether it is in business or government.    No special rules for the wealthy, no special rules for the government.  The laws that are created must be laws they are bound to.  Laws on taxes, laws on health care, laws on retirement must apply to our government officials as well as those they serve.  Did you hear that?  They serve us, the people.  We the people of these United States will hold our politicians to a higher standard, and they will not be re-elected unless they are truly statesman, and understand the meaning of public virtue. We will end the taxes that take from the wealthy, and give to the poor.  Our government does not get to play Robin Hood.  Our growth as individuals depends our opportunity to choose to give to the poor rather than be robbed by taxation, otherwise we are merely slaves under an oppressive self-righteous government.

This is the greatest country in the world.  We have a wonderful system of government.  But, it must be filled by men and women of virtue, with an educated, and informed public standing behind them.

FREEDOM CAN WIN!

Are You a Madison, Jefferson, Ghandi or Mother Teresa?

Are You or Do You Know a Madison, Jefferson, Ghandi or Mother Teresa?

by Christy Watterson

James Madison could see that the Articles of Confederation were not working.  If something wasn’t done quickly, the new government would fail,  the 13 states would desintigrate,  hard won liberty would be lost, and England would step in and rule America once more.  Madison applied to Jefferson and others for ideas and resources on  government.  Jefferson sent Madison a crate of his own books from France where he was serving as an American ambassador.  He and others also gave Madison reading suggestions.  Madison studied all he could.  He read Montisque, Locke, Blackstone, etc.  He also read Cicero, and other great ancient scholars and leaders.  The Bible was another source of inspiration.  As he read these, he was able to think and understand on deep levels.  He was able to see what worked and didn’t work in the past.  What areas of human nature needed to kept in check.  What it would take to keep liberty alive.   He then gathered people he knew to be key indivituals from across the 13 states who also had the education, influence and backgroutnd to bring to pass a government that would perpetuate liberty.   These men gathered together in the Constitutional Convention and conceived an inspired document that would give people a country where they could live their lives and pursue their dreams in Liberty.

According to Dr. Oliver DeMille, in order for freedom to win in the United States today, we need 700 men and women like Cincinnatus, Madison, Jefferson, Ghandi and Mother Teresa.  Individuals who have the faith, education, understanding of human nature, and the ability to think and analyze on deep levels.  They also need to have the skills necessary to organize, bring key players together, and lead and rally when needed.  They must have the education, ability and personality to make freedom possible on a national level.  Let us all pray that as the time comes when the people cry we need a Cincinnatus, that 700 step forward.  That God has prepared these individuals just as he prepared Washington, Madison and Jefferson etc.  is my hope and prayer.   Is it your mission to be one of these?  A great place to start is George Wythe University.  They are a university dedicated to creating leaders and statesmen of the calibur  of Jefferson and Madison.   Look them up at http://www.gw.edu  Lastly, if you are interested in reading more of Dr. Oliver DeMille has to say on what it will take for freedom to win, you can download his webinar The Coming Aristocray parts one and two.  In these audio downloads, he explains how an aristocracy is again coming to power in the United States in the form of out of control big business and government who are becoming a law unto themselves.  He also tells us what it will take in order for freedom to win.  There are also some great audio downloads on the 4th turning called “A Crisis is a Terrible Thing to Waste” and freedom available at www.tjedmarketplace.com look for Dr. DeMille’s  recordings on The Freedom Crisis and also The Great Depression of 2012 all about how to succeed in a fourth turning.

 What is YOUR MISSION?

Now is the time for you to embark on a journey of finding out what your mission is.  No matter what your mission is, one key comes up over and over again.  You must educate yourself so that you can fulfill your mission.  Almost all the signers of the Declaration of Independence were well educated, some self taught and others through schools that gave quality education.  It is interesting to note, that almost all of the signers were born in the First or Second turning of that time period.  They were the ones who had the education and mission to be the leadership during the Fourth Turning including the Revolutionary War and Constitutional Convention.   Is it your job to provide leadership in this Fourth Turning?  If so, start educating yourself.  Start a branch of the STAR Forum with your friends and family.  Discuss great books and ideas together in your forum.  Exchange ideas on liberty, mini-factories, education, honor and the classics.  Prepare yourself to fulfill your mission.  JOIN US.

Pledge Your Life, Fortune, and Sacred Honor?

Are You Ready to Pledge your Life, Fortune, and Sacred Honor?

by Christy Watterson

When the signers of the Declaration of Indepence pledged their lives, forturne and sacred honor, it was not just a symbolic, but also a literal gesture.  If caught by the British, they would be killed.  By the end of the Revolutionary war, many of them were bamkrupt because they gave all to the cause of freedom.  They valued freedom over material posession.    Sacred Honor, is a term that has no equal or meaning in today’s world.  We live in a society where self preservation and self gain are the goal and any means to that end is justified.  Ethics and morals have become situational rather than enduring principles to found a life on.

Abraham Clark  was a signer of the Declaration of Independence whose life demonstrates his willingness to give his life, fortune and keep his sacred honor.   His sons were taken prisoner during the Revolutionary war.  When the British discovered that they had the sons of a signer of the Declaration of Independence, they knew they had a great bargaining chip.  They wrote to Abraham  saying we will not feed your sons until you denounce your signing of  the Declaration of Independence and come out in support of the king.    Abraham Clark sent word that he would give the British all he had if they would let his sons go.  The British did not accept this offer and again sent word that his sons would not be fed until he denounced his singing of the Declaration of Indepencence.     This time, Clark  responded by offering his own life for that of his sons.   Again, the British did not accept  and demanded his denunciation of the revolutinary cause.    Abraham Clark  knew that if he denounced all he stood for,  so that his sons might live, he would in reality give them a legacy of dishonor worse than death.  Broken hearted, Abraham Clark  wrote back  that he would not denounce his signing of the Declaration of Independence.    In so doing, he thought that he had signed his sons’ death warrant.  Providentially, he did not.  His sons were freed in a final prisoner exchange.    Abraham Clark  showed us what sacred honor truly is.  Today more that ever, we need a society  filled with people who are willing to live by their sacred honor.  Is it your mission to be one of these people and inspire others to do likewise?  We need a country filled with sacred honor in order for liberty to survive.

What about fortune?  Without sufficient funds, our Founding Fathers could not have pulled off  the cause of liberty.  The currency printed by the Americans during the revolution became worthless and inflated.    Were it not for Robert Morris, William Williams,  signers of the Declaration of Independence and others like them, who stepped forward and  gave their money and resources for the cause of  liberty, the Revolutionary War would not have been successful. In 1779, Williams exchanged $2,000 in specie of his own money for the worthless Continental money so that the army would have the supplies they needed.  He lost almost all his money.  The army got the supplies needed.  Morris borrowed money on his own credit  for General Washington and the Continental army when there was dire need of funds.  Thomas Nelson another signer, raised $2 million dollars for the revolution.  He used his own estates as collateral.  When the notes came due,  congress refused to honor them.  He died in poverty at age 50.  He gave all he had for liberty.

According to Dr. Oliver DeMille, in order for freedom to win today, in the United States we will need about 3% of our population ( 7 million) sucessful, entrepreneurs, innovators or initiators to create what he calls mini-factories.  A mini-factory is a small business that does something as good or better than Big Business and is successful at it.   Why would this matter?  Small businesses create about 80% of the wealth generated in the United States today.  If most of the nation’s resources and wealth reamain in the hands of small businesses run by freedom loving individuals, it will give liberty the resources to again thrive in the United States.  Is it your mission to start a mini-factory?  Is it your mission to keep free enterprise alive and well in America?

Take action.  See the article on what books are great for setting up your mini-factory here.

What Can You Do to Restore Liberty?

What Can You Do to Restore Liberty?  Is Freedom Part of your Life Mission?

by Christy Watterson

Do you ever look around you, look at what is happening in our country and in the world, and wish there were something you could do?  Do you ever feel hopeless or helpless as you watch liberty and moral values crumble around you?  I believe that God sent the Founding Fathers of our country at that time to fulfill a mission that would bring liberty to this land.   God sent you to earth at this time and place.  He has given you talents and abilities.   He has a plan for you and your life just as He had a plan and work for the founders to do.   It was not chance, but Providence, that brought two men, Henry Knox and Nathanael Greene, together.   The two became friends and had placed in their hearts a burning desire to read all that they could about military arts and strategy.  This was a very unlikely subject for the Quaker raised Nathanael Greene to want to study. It was also very convenient that Henry Knox owned a prosperous bookstore that allowed them access to the kinds of books they would need to study.  The two poured over books on military arts for hours.  These two men played a major part in helping George Washington to win the war.  They were inspired to learn and were ready when needed to fulfill a purpose.

If each us is put here at this time and place to fulfill a mission, what can we do to be ready?  What can we learn from history?   This series of articles will explore what it will take for liberty to win in this Fourth Turning.  It will also hopefully inspire you to find out what your personal mission is and help you to start on the path that you need to take.

What can we learn from the past?

Cincinnatus was a consul in the ancient Roman Republic.  He was very well educated and wise.  After his term as consul, he retired to his farm.  He was so respected and loved by the Roman people, that they often came to his farm for advice.   During this time, a barbarian army gathered with an aim to take Rome.  They burned and plundered every village in their path on their march to Rome.  The Roman senate and consuls gathered their army and sent it to stop the barbarians.  Some time later, a small, rag-tag group of blood stained survivors returned telling how the Roman army had been trapped on all sides in a mountain pass and defeated by the barbarians.  The Romans now had no army and the barbarians were on their way.  Someone in the senate cried, “we need Cincinnatus!”   An envoy was sent to Cincinnatus’ farm asking him to save Rome.  They promised that if he saved them, he would be king.  Cincinnatus gathered an army mostly made up of inexperienced young men because that was all there was left.  Calling upon his education and leadership skills, Cincinnatus was able to use military strategy and lead  his army to victory.   Upon his victorius return, Cincinnatus was, as promised, given the offer to be king.  Cincinnatus replied, “I give the power back to the senate, it is their job to  make the laws”.  He then returned to his farm.

In a time much later in Roman history, Julius Caesar started his power play to take over the Roman Republic.  Cicero and others in the senate called for a Cincinnatus.   No Cincinnatus stepped forward.   There was none to be found.  After Julius Casar was assassinated, his nephew Octavius (later called Augustus)  took up where Julius had left off.  He formed a triumverate, that killed anyone with  power to stand in his way.  Mark Antony, part of Octavius’ triumverate, celebrated with glee when he learned that his arch enemy, the statesman and senator Cicero had been killed by the triumverate’s death squad.  Cicero was well educated and very vocal in trying to save the rupublic.  With his death, and the deaths of others like minded,  the republic failed.

What does the story of Cincinnatus and of Cicero have to do with you today?  George Washington,  Thomas Jefferson and the other founding fathers were the Cincinnatuses of America.  They fought for liberty from Britan.  Instead of taking power for themselves, they studied government and human nature and then wrote a constitution that gave us a republic and left the power in the hands of the people.  Today, our American Republic and the Constituiton are in jeopardy.    We need to study what liberty looks like.  We need to have the education to be the Ciceroes and Cincinnatuses of our time.  “But,”  you say, “I am no Cicero or Cincinnatus or George Washington.  I am just a regular man or woman.  I am not great like them.”   Perhaps that is what those men thought of themselves.  That is probably what made them great.  The difference, is that they had the education to give them the ability to do what they did.   Again you say, “but I don’t have that kind of education.”   Many of the founding fathers and people of that time were self-educated, look at the example of Henry Knox and Nathanael Greene.  It is not too late.  Start now.  One of the best places to start is The Five Thousand Year Leap by  W. Cleon Skousen

Dr. Oliver DeMille states that in order for freedom to win in the United States, we need 30% of the population which is about 70 million people who have the kind of  education and  thinking and reasoning skills that we have been discussing.  Perhaps your mission is to be one of those 70 million people that ensure freedom wins.  If there are enough Ciceroes, freedom wins!

The Path of the Hero — Are you on it?

by Jacqueline Smith

The Hero in today’s society has changed from the hero of the past.  Heroes used to be statesman, creators and artists who changed the world with their vision, pioneers of industry, space, or the frontier.  Heroes always placed themselves last because they knew their path would be for the greater good of society, and they believed in public virtue.  The heroes of today have become celebrities.  These are self-centered rather than selfless individuals.  Today, our heroes are unclear as we have blurred the lines of the enemy.  It is politically correct to say, everyone is right, it is okay if they don’t believe or think the way I do.  There is no real enemy, therefore, no real hero.  We have lost basic archetypes that are universal.  When we see a film or TV series that brings those archetypes back, we cheer, and everyone relates to it.

Every person can and should be a hero.  We feel the tug from the inside, but the world tells us we cannot go on, we don’t have time, or we cannot possibly make a difference.  We can make a difference.  YOU can make a difference.  Are you hearing the call and heeding it, or ignoring it?  Are you ready to step onto the path of the hero?

Join us today by bringing others in your area together to discuss the wonderful freedoms on which this country was founded.  Contact The S.T.A.R. Forum, and start a group in your area.

 Path of the Hero0001

Because the print is very small here are the steps on the path:

1.  You are doing ordinary things in an ordinary life.

2.  You hear the CALL.  You feel something from inside of you that says you must act.

3.  If you refuse the call, you simply go back to doing ordinary things in your ordinary life (#1).  If you heed the call move to #4

4.  If you heed the call you find yourself a mentor, or you begin to rely on supernatural aid (God).

5.  You cross the threshold into the unknown, the abyss or the desert.  You are completely alone.

6.  You analyze your allies and your enemies.  You define who is truly on your side.

7.  Face questions that force you to see who you really are.

8.  Now you face your fear.  You are tested.  This test often in Hebrew contains the number 40.  Moses was on the mount for 40 days.  Christ fasted for 40 days.  Jonah was at Niniva for 40 days, Noah had 40 days and nights of rain, etc.  You must pass this test.

9.  After your test is passed, you receive special gifts or rewards for passing your test.

10.  Now you take the road back toward society.  This is lonely and hard.  This is your Gethsemane.

11.  You are lead to a rebirth or a resurection of self.

12.  You head back to society with something necessary for society to heal.

What will your elixer be?  New type of energy, new mathmatics formulas, renewal of constitutional principles, renewal of alternative medicines in your area?  Will you hoist your title of liberty to rally others?  The possibilities are limitless.  Get on the Path of the Hero and find your personal mission.

A Closer Look at the Fourth Turning

Time for a closer look at the 4th phase – The Winter, or Crisis.

by Jacqueline Smith

Our previous article (found here) explained a brief overview of a cycle in history known as a saeculum.  This 80 – 120 year period in history is made up of four (4) separate turnings.  Each of these turnings last on average 20 – 25 years.  We are now going to take a quick look at the types of people born in these turnings, and then take a closer look at just the Fourth Turning, since that is the one we are currently in.  We will also look ahead to a new founding.  What kind of founding?  That will be determined by the people of this great country during the next ten (10) or so years.

Let’s begin with a look at archetypes.  During each phase an archetype of sorts is born.  In general, these types of people will be born, but remember there are always exceptions.

  • 1st Phase, or Founding  – Prophet  (they see what’s coming)
  • 2nd Phase or Awakening – Nomads (they don’t fit in, move a lot, change jobs)
  • 3rd Phase or Unraveling – Heroes (take the hard path, and fight the fight)
  • 4th Phase or Crisis – Artists (see the world as wonderful or horrible and express their views through a variety of mediums.)

Each archetype affects change in the next two phases following, when they are old enough to make a difference.  If you want to know which archetype you and your friends fit into, go to the previous article “The Fourth Turning – In a Nutshell” and find the year you were born.

Here is a breakdown of just one historical 4th turning in American history.

1770 – Boston Massacre – The Catalyst that pushes society into a 4th Turning.

1776 – Declaration of Independence – The alignment takes place.  In this case, the people aligned themselves with each other, and against the ruling power of England.

1783-1787 – Revolutionary War – The Crisis shows itself.  There is death, sacrifice, and extreme hardship on those who fight for the cause.

1787-1794 – The Constitutional Convention – The Resolution takes place.  A new founding is then created on self rule, in this case.

 Now, let’s look at today:

2001 – September 11 terrorist attacks – The Catalyst.  This drove our country to changes in policy.  Our attack was suddenly different, so our defense was changed.  Therefore policy changed to enforce the new defense.  i.e. Patriot Act, Victory Act, etc.

That’s what we know for sure about the 4th Turning.  If the cycles hold, this may be what we can come to expect.  And we have questions for you to ponder, seriously.

 2008? – 2009? – The alignment.

  • Has it already occurred with our current election, or has the election created a need for a stronger alignment.
  • Are you going to be a part of it?  The people, who want freedom over oppression, democrat and republican alike, recently attended tea parties.
  • The people have begun to align themselves.  Where is your alignment?
  • Currently we are really only looking at two choices, freedom principles or socialistic principles.

 2012? – 2015? – The Crisis.

  •  What event could come our way to really test our society?  Historically this time period in the crisis can be war, plague (or pandemic), famine, or economic depression.  It may even contain more than one.
  • Are you ready?  Do you know how to survive a 4th Turning crisis?  This isn’t a doomsday approach.  This is reality if the cycles hold.  Something to think about.

 2028? – 2035? – The Resolution.

  •  What will the resolution to our problems be?
  • Have you studied enough to know what freedom really needs to look like?
  • Could you set up changes that will take us back down a path of freedom?  It took decades to get us on this path of socialism.  It may take just as long to undo many of those bad policies and thinking that got us here in the first place.  Maybe not.
  • Can you speak the language of the elite?  Can you enter the great debate on principles and theory, instead of embroiling yourself and others with issues?
  • Can you articulate your ideas so they are easily understood?

It is important to understand that the people in the alignment will either be the people in the resolution or will dramatically influence it.  The people who signed the Declaration of Independence were also the people who put together the Constitution.

You may have raised one of the HERO Generation of our day.  You may be one of the HERO generation.  Your grandchildren might be that generation.  But they are already here.  They are the children born between 1984 and 2001.  They will be the ones that will carry us through to the next phase.  It will require the Prophet generation, the Nomad generation and the Hero generation to pull this off.  The Hero generation must be shown why this battle for freedom really matters.  They must be educated in the principles of liberty.

We cannot look back in time and wish for the “old days”, we must look forward to a future of freedom.  Take the steps necessary to tip the scales back toward the side of freedom.  We have lost for many years.  But we can reverse the direction of this country.  If we are to survive the 4th turning and come out with a founding that is of value, we must embrace it.  We must prepare for it.  We must be educated in freedom principles.

Wouldn’t it be great to just take a pill and have this thing fixed?  Unfortunately, that is not possible.  The fix is in long-term thinking, education, reform, and de-centralization.  These things take time.  This isn’t scary, it’s exciting.  We can change the course of our country.
